Four billion heartbeats a day on a serverless data platform

A wearable cardiac monitoring company needed to ingest, store and analyse continuous ECG streams from thousands of patients while cutting the time clinicians spent on reports.

Challenge

What was in the way

Legacy pipelines could not keep up with device growth. Reports took hours to compile, anomaly detection lagged, and infrastructure cost scaled linearly with patients.

Solution

What we built

An event-driven ingestion layer on Amazon Kinesis and AWS Lambda, a governed data lake on Amazon S3 with AWS Glue, anomaly models on Amazon SageMaker and clinician dashboards in Amazon QuickSight. Protected health information was isolated and encrypted end to end.
